We have some incredible women involved in athletics who are continually fighting to push the sport we love so much forward. As part of International Women’s Day, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight a few of these voices that challenge the status quo, spotlight important topics and conversations, and who are leaders in our sport.

Alysia Montaño

Mother, activist, and Olympian, Alysia Montaño first took center stage when she spoke out against Nike, her former sponsor, for their lack of maternity coverage policies in an NYT Op-Ed piece. Now, Alysia is the co-founder of &Mother and is spearheading a campaign called #DreamMaternity that encourages women to pursue their careers alongside motherhood. She has also started a podcast, alongside sports psychologist Rosin McGettigan and pro runner Molly Huddle, called Keeping-Track that is dedicated to important topics and interesting stories in women's sport. Lindsay Crouse

Lindsay Crouse is a reporter and videographer for the New York Times and recently produced two award-winning Op Ed's addressing issues in women's sports including Dream Maternity and Mary Cain's story. Lindsay continues to push boundaries and the status quo with her story-telling. If you haven't yet, we highly encourage you to follow her work.

Alison Mariella Désir

An activist, runner, community builder, founder, mental health advocate, and mother, Alison is a powerful voice in our sport. In 2013, Alison founded HarlemRun, to help create a group that was welcoming to BIPOC runners. In 2017, she started Run4AllWomen, and in 2019 founded Global Womxn Run Collective as a way to connect and create open conversations with women-led running groups. Most recently, Alison founded Meaning Thru Movement, a virtual event series that promotes fitness and mental health. To learn more about Alison and her remarkable work, check out the link below.

Alexi Pappas

Alexi Pappas is an Olympic runner and an award-winning actor and writer. Alexi competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 10,000M and in the same year, co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in TrackTown. In 2019, Alexi went on to co-write and star in Olympic Dreams and most recently, wrote the book Bravey that tackles tough topics such as her mother's suicide, mental and physical well-being, and embracing self. We've been touched by Alexi's voice and look forward to following her future projects.
