Coaching Philosophy?

Blending my experience as an elite distance runner and triathlete with my extensive knowledge of injury prevention and rehabilitation, I provide a thorough approach to coaching. Although I’m is very well versed in the ‘science’ of training, I put a large emphasis on the ‘art’ of training.

I believe running is a great metaphor for life. I have learned many life lessons as a runner. I believe in having a healthy relationship with running all while pushing yourself to get the most out of yourself. I am motivated and committed to helping others in their journey.

Favourite race distance and why?

I hate this question! All of them! (But also none of them)

Most memorable coaching moment?

It’s not the SBs, the PBs, or the Ws, it’s every time life doesn’t seem fair, when we struggle or have a setback, only to rise up to gain from any tough time.

My favourite moment is when an athlete struggled with an injury. After frustration, anger, and finally acceptance, we took the injury as an opportunity to work on her weaknesses (notably strength and mobility issues). Once she started running again, she was obviously not in great running shape but athletically she was a much better athlete. Her ‘foundation’ improved dramatically giving her a much greater ‘ceiling’ for her running potential. After some consistent training it wasn’t a surprise she PB’d dramatically in her next race.
