About Caitlin

Caitlin Fielder is a professional trail runner for Salomon, and a full time artist running her own business. Running has provided Caitlin with the opportunity to explore and see the world and has pushed her out of her comfort zone, both mentally and physically. For Caitlin, the varying movement of trail running and immersion in nature activates the mind and gives different perspectives. Caitlin loves the aspect of racing and pushing herself against others in the sport, but enjoys the "behind the scenes" aspect the most.

Interview

  • Favourite race type and why?

At the moment I think my favourite distance on the trails is around the 42-60km mark. It’s a distance where you can still focus on being fast, but it’s long enough to still have to focus a lot on your effort, your nutrition and pacing. There is still enough time for the race to change.

  • Favourite post-workout treat or go-to place?

Cracking into a ginger beer and some kind of chocolate, like peanut M&M’s or white bueno bars.

  • Favourite running podcast, website, book, videos, or blog?

There are a few really good ones out there now, I really enjoy listening to David and Megan on Some Work, All Play, Koop cast is great and informative, sigma nutrition is really interesting too.

  • Favourite quote?

You have to love the work more than the reward

  • Favourite single race?

    Zegama

  • Favourite part about coaching with M2M?

Interacting with the different coaches and runners from all different backgrounds

  • What got you into running?

I did boxing all throughout University and into my first few years working in Aquaculture, after having a boxing fight I decided to change and focus on a different sport, and moved into running!

  • Most memorable race?

Definitely Zegama, its an incredible race with the most amazing atmosphere.
