General

The foundation of Mile2Marathon is built on our Personal Coaching service. It is a service that we believe every athlete will benefit from, no matter your experience level or goals. However, we offer a range of different services including custom race plans and in-person group workout memberships to help support your running goals. For an overview, and more information on which service will work for you, check out our services page.

Final Surge is a state-of-the-art online training platform and we use it for all of our services – from Personal Coaching to Custom Race Plans to Group Workouts.

It allows our coaches to plan and analyze group and individual training. And it allows you to upload your training, see your planned training and track all of your training data. It is also used for communication between coach, athlete and workout city groups.

When you signup for Personal Coaching, Custom Race Plan, or Group Workouts, you will also create a free Final Surge account.

No! Both our Personal Coaching and Custom Race Plan services are remote-based services. If you are on a Personal Coaching Plan and are located in a city where we offer Group Workouts, we encourage you to come out to practices and train with our community. If you are 100% remote, we offer online communities and access to exclusive content for members only.

Yes! We work with runners of all abilities and believe that through proper guidance, you can achieve your running goals while staying injury free. As a newer runner, overtraining, incorrect form, or ramping up milage too quickly can all result in injury.

Our coaches have experience working with runners of all levels. We can guide you so that you can increase your training load in a healthy and sustainable way.

Personal Coaching is the best service for newer runners, because our coaches are able to provide constant support. However our in-person Group Workout membership is also suitable for newer runners as we have many pace groups within each workout and many options to adapt the workout to meet you where you’re at.

Yes! We have world-class trail and ultra runners on our coaching staff, that are ready to help you with your off-road running goals. Whether you are new to the trails or are a seasoned trail runner, our specialized trail coaches have the expertise and experience to help you get the most out of your training and racing.

Personal Coaching

Personal Coaching is all about establishing a strong relationship with a coach and getting the most out of your training and racing. At M2M, our coaches are some of the best runner’s in the world and have extensive experience coaching runners. They understand that each athlete is a unique person and are able to create truly personalized plans based on individual goals and needs. Whether you want to compete at the highest level of the sport, become a more consistent runner, or something in between Personal Coaching is the best service to help you become the runner you’ve dreamed of being.

You choose your coach from our list of available coaches.

If you need help selecting a coach we can help. Complete a form with information about your running history and your goals in hiring a coach. We use that to match you with a coach who we think will be a good fit for you. Visit Our Coaches page and hit the Help Me Choose button at the bottom.

First you select your coach from our list of available coaches. You’ll then be taken to Final Surge, to complete your athlete profile questionnaire, pay your initial fees and setup your recurring monthly subscription. Next your coach will review your questionnaire and be in touch, usually within 48 hours, to setup a kickoff meeting. During the kickoff meeting you’ll be able to ask any question you have and review your athlete profile questionnaire with your coach. After this meeting, your coach will write the first block of your personal training plan. This step can take up to 5 days. Overall it can take up to 10 days from your initial signup to when your training plan is uploaded and your journey with your personal coach is in full swing.

Personal Coaching is a monthly recurring subscription service. Your initial payment will be for your first month of coaching services and the initial startup fee. Each payment thereafter, made on the same day of the month as your initial payment, is for the monthly coaching fee. The minimum commitment is 4 months (or 4 payments of the monthly fee).

We accept all credit cards. All payments are made via Final Surge and handled by Stripe.

Here are some of the reasons why we require a minimum commitment of 4 months for Personal Coaching services:

Achieving Long-Term Goals: Running and fitness goals often require consistent training over an extended period to achieve meaningful results. A minimum commitment period ensures that athletes give themselves a fair chance to see progress and improvements in their running performance.

Realistic Expectations: Coaching is most effective when both the coach and the athlete have realistic expectations. Setting a minimum commitment period helps clients understand that significant improvements in running performance don’t happen overnight, and it encourages them to have patience and dedication.

Building a Strong Coach-Athlete Relationship: Effective coaching involves a strong rapport between the coach and the athlete. A minimum commitment period allows this relationship to develop and grow, as the coach gets to know the athletes’s strengths, weaknesses, preferences, and goals in-depth.

Coaching Investment: For the coach, taking on a client involves time, effort, and expertise. A minimum commitment period ensures that the coach’s investment in creating personalized training plans, providing guidance, and offering support is well-utilized and valued by the athlete.

Accountability and Commitment: Committing to a minimum period promotes accountability on both sides. Athletes are more likely to stay committed to their training when they know they’ve made a commitment, and coaches can better plan their schedules and resources when they have committed athletes.

The start-up fee covers the following:

  • Access to your own Final Surge account
  • In-depth review of your athlete profile questionnaire
  • Initial Kick-off Meeting with your coach including a detailed discussions around goal setting, lifestyle, racing schedule, and more to provide the best possible individualized training program
  • Free M2M Team Racing Singlet

Yes, all athletes on the Personal Coaching service, can attend M2M Group Workouts in any city we offer them. You can work with your coach to integrate the group workouts into your personal plan. To learn more about our Group Workouts including locations and times, please visit our M2M Group Workouts page.

Custom Race Plans

A Custom Race Plan is a training program, for a predetermined number of weeks, that is written by one of our coaches. Once written, the plan is upload to Final Surge and available for you to follow. The plan is specifically designed for you and your race goal. Leading up to a race, sign up with one of our coaches and they will create a training plan that takes in to account your previous running experience, your current fitness, and your race goal.

M2M Custom Race Plans are best for athletes who have a background in running, are looking for a running training program written specifically for them, but do not require frequent updates and adjustments to their plan or regular communication with a coach.

We encourage new runners to sign-up for Personal Coaching as more communication is often necessary to ensure that athletes are properly adapting to their training program and that your questions can be answered at all times.

You can choose the coach to write your Custom Race Plan, from our list of available coaches.

If you need help choosing a coach to write your plan, we ask that you submit a form with a bit about your running history and goals. We take that information and use it to assign the coach who we feel would be best to write your plan. Visit Our Coaches page and hit the Help Me Choose button at the bottom.

Under this service, your communication with the coach you selected to write your plan is limited to three key check-ins. You will have an initial check-in with the coach who you selected to write your plan the information provided in your intake form and gather more information they need to write your plan. The coach will contact you again at the midway point of your plan (or some other agreed-upon date) to assess your progress and to make any necessary changes to your plan. The coach will contact you a third and final time to provide you race day advice and strategy.

Our Personal Coaching service offers regular and on going communication with a personal coach.

First you select your coach from our list of available coaches and then select the number of weeks for your plan. You’ll then be taken to Final Surge to complete your athlete profile questionnaire and pay for your Custom Race Plan.

Next the coach you selected to write your plan will contact you to review the questionnaire and answer any questions. Then the coach will write your plan. Once your plan is completed (usually within 7-days of payment) it will be uploaded to Final Surge.

You will automatically create a Final Surge account when you signup for the Custom Race Plan service. Your plan will appear on your Final Surge calendar and coincide with the number of weeks you purchased the plan for, culminating on your Goal Race Date.

Service fees for Custom Race Plan, as indicated on the Website, are paid once as a lump sum. We accept all credit cards. Your credit card will be charged upon checkout. All payments are made on Final Surge and secured via Stripe.

No, the Custom Race Plan service does not include free access to M2M Group Workouts. To attend Group Workouts in any M2M City you will be required to sign-up for the Group Workout Membership.

Group Workouts

These are workouts that we encourage members to invite their friends and family to attend. But if you have no association with a current M2M member you are also most welcome at these workouts.

Attending an open workout doesn’t assume that you are interested in purchasing an M2M Group Workout Membership or that it’s your first time coming to a workout with us. An open workout is simply an opportunity to welcome our broader community to a workout.

The M2M Group Workout Membership allows you to attend in-person workouts, hosted by M2M Coaches, currently available in select Canadian cities. Group Workouts are offered 1 to 4 times per week depending on the city. We recommend this membership to runners of all abilities looking to train with other runners and an elite coach. More details on the M2M Group Workout Membership are available here.

To sign-up, visit our Group Workout page and select your city. You’ll then choose from the different membership options and be taken to Final surge to complete payment.

Your Group Workout Membership is a recurring subscription. For most cities you can select either a 4-month recurring membership (save $10/month) or a monthly recurring membership. There is no minimum commitment required for this membership, beyond your initial payment period (either 4 months or 1 month).

All payments are made via Final Surge and handled by Stripe. We accept all credit cards. Because this is a recurring subscription, the credit card on file will be billed on the same day of the month as your first payment, at the time interval associated with the subscription you’ve chosen (monthly or every 4 months).

Yes, we encourage you to come out to a Group Workout to see if it’s a good fit for you. Be sure to introduce yourself to one of our coaches at the workout. They’ll ask you to fill out a form for first-time workout participants, including our participation waiver. They’ll also help you find the right group to run with and answer any questions.

To learn more about what’s happening in each city including our workout locations and times, please visit our Calendar.

The Group Workout Membership includes access to weekly in-person workouts, a free Final Surge account with all Group workout details on your Final Surge, and more. Check out the Group Workouts Page for full details.

We understand that life sometimes gets in the way and that you won’t always be able to make it out to group workouts. To help, the group workouts are posted to your Final Surge calendar so that you can do them on your own time. We know it’s not as fun as running with friends but at least you can continue on the same plan as the rest of your group!

Athlete Billing & Membership

At the moment, you can only update your credit card details on the Final Surge website (not the App).

To update your credit card details, sign into your Final Surge account Workout Log for Athletes and Coaches, click on “My Subscriptions” and then click on “manage subscription” next to the subscription you wish to update your credit card details for. Then you’ll click on the pencil icon under the “Associated Payment Method” section.

You are responsible for updating your credit card information to avoid any disruptions in your associated membership services due to non-payment.

You must commit to personal coaching for a minimum initial term of four months.

This means that Mile2Marathon will charge your credit card for a minimum term of four months after you have signed up.

After you have been personally coached for a minimum term of 4 months, you can email your coach and request that your personal coaching membership be put on pause for up to two months.

Please take note of the date you are sent your Mile2Marathon invoice each month.

You will need to email your coach to request a pause at least two weeks prior to your invoice date, to avoid being charged personal coaching service fees as of your next invoice date.

No. During this two-month period, your credit card will not be charged service fees for personal coaching, and you will maintain your Final Surge account and connection to
your coach.

However, once your two-month pause period has elapsed, your credit card will be automatically charged for monthly service fees in the third month, on your usual invoice date.

Once your two-month pause period has elapsed, your credit card will be automatically charged for personal coaching service fees in the third month, on your usual invoice date, UNLESS you email your coach with notice of cancellation at least two weeks prior to your next invoice date.

If you do not resume personal coaching after two months, you will lose your assignment to your coach, and you will be charged the standard M2M start-up fee if you sign up for personal coaching at a future date.

Yes. After you have been personally coached for a minimum term of four months, you can email your coach and request to transfer to group workouts membership.

Please take note of the date you are sent your Mile2Marathon invoice each month.

You will need to make this emailed request to switch to group workouts at least two weeks prior to your invoice date, to avoid being charged personal coaching service fees as of your next invoice date.

If you do not resume personal coaching after three months, you will lose connection to your coach, and you will be charged the standard M2M start-up fee if you sign up for personal coaching at a future date.

There are a two main reasons for this: 1) Mile2Marathon needs to notify Final Surge to make these changes to your account, and Final Surge requires time to process these requests; and 2) Many Mile2Marathon coaches prepare your schedules two weeks at a time and have already undertaken their billable work for two weeks into the future, at the time you have made the request.

Stay tuned. Final Surge is working hard to update their App so you can self-manage all of these requests on the App. For now, please follow the above-prescribed procedures.

No. Service fees for custom race plan are non-refundable.

However your plan will never expire. It will be available to you in Final Surge to see and use at any time.

Please take note of the date you are sent your Mile2Marathon invoice each month.

The minimum commitment period for a personal coaching membership is four months. To cancel your personal coaching service you need to take two steps:

  • First, email your coach to notify them of your intent to cancel your personal coaching membership at least two weeks prior to your invoice date, to avoid being charged personal coaching service fees and/or group workout fees at your next invoice date.
  • Second, cancel your membership on the Final Surge website by going to your Final Surge account, under “Manage Subscription”, and select “Cancel Subscription”.

There is no minimum commitment period for a group workout membership. You can cancel your group workout membership at anytime by going to your Final Surge account, and selecting “Manage Subscription”.
