M2M is excited to start hitting some single track in Gatineau Park and the surrounding area. Helping us make this transition is trail/ultra coach Liam Walke and Ottawa Trail Crew run leaders Katheryn Cochrane and Nat Vice. These three, along with our existing M2M Ottawa coaching staff, have some exciting plans for the future.

Trail/Ultra Coaching

Many of our coaches and athletes have dabbled in the trail and ultra running world. But for most of us, it’s been secondary to our ambitions on the roads. Liam Walke will be our first coach whose experience and expertise is focused squarely on trail and ultra running.

A self described “committed endurance athlete”, Liam has explored mountain ranges across the world and tested the limits of his endurance in ultra, trail, and mountain events for the past 10 years. He’s had the privilege of working with some of the best trail and ultra coaches in the world during that time. The strength and spirit of the ultra community has lead him to coaching athletes of all abilities in a variety of disciplines over the past several years. He started his own company, Run Traverse, with the goal of helping endurance athletes of all abilities reach their potential.

With M2M Liam will offer personal coaching services, as well as leading trail specific clinics and coached workouts. We’ll kick things off on Saturday August 15th with a trail specific clinic, free to all runners. Check out the details below.

The Ottawa Trail Crew x M2M

Meet Katheryn & Nat

Katheryn first discovered the trails while adventuring at home in Gros Morne National Park.  From there, her connection to flowing singletrack, lush green forests, and sunrise summits blossomed into a full love for taking her runs off the road and onto the trails. She quickly discovered that pace is irrelevant and the runners high is steep!

Nat’s love for the trails grew from a desire to create balance with the structured- type A life of triathlon. His favourite types of trails are rolling, flowy singletrack, technical downhills, and anything super muddy! “If you didn’t get dirty did you even go trail running?!” Nat learned early on that time spent on the trails can translate to some strong, fast road running performances and that the two can work together.

Plans for Ottawa Trail Crew x M2M

Together, Nat & Katheryn have grown the trail community in the Ottawa- Gatineau area over the last 5 years through the Ottawa Trail Crew. You can usually find them exploring Western Quebec and Ottawa via swim-bike-run or on their favourite trail network in the Meech Valley. They look forward to welcoming back returning, long time running friends of the crew, and meeting new faces looking to get into trail running.

M2M is excited to provide support for Nat & Katheryn and their future plans for the trail running community. They’ll re-introduce their weekly Sunday Trail Run, a staple of the Ottawa Trail Crew, starting August 16th. This weekly run is open to anyone and everyone, whether you’re an avid trail runner or looking to try out the trails for the first time.
