We are super excited to welcome Jessica Brockerville (nee Smith) to the team. She’ll be working alongside Justin Kent in building our community in the Burnaby area, as well as excepting athletes of all abilities for remote coaching services.

Q: How long have you been running for?

A: Been running since elementary school, recognized potential in high school and joined a track club, went pro in 2012

Q: Most memorable race?

A: Most memorable track race was the day I broke 2min in the 800m to achieve Olympic standard on a hometown track in front of friends & family.

Q: Most unexpected place running has taken you?

A: I’ve been fortunate that running has given me opportunities to travel across Canada, the USA and the world – unique places include Kazan, Russia / Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire/ São Paulo, Brazil / Cayman Islands/ inside Madison Square Gardens, etc

Q: Favourite pre race meal?

A: Favourite pre-race meal is the most reliable. Bagel (toasted) with peanut butter and banana or a simple turkey sandwich

Q: Favourite post race meal?

A: No favourite post-race meal, something hearty that refuels and allows me to recover (maybe pasta or burger)

Q: When are you most productive?

A: Most productive after I’ve eaten a meal

Q: Summer or winter?

A: I enjoy both as I like the variability throughout the year but if I had to choose, it would be summer for all the events and memories that are shared with other

Q: What scares you?

A: Haunted houses

Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be?

A: I believe Vancouver is one of the most beautiful and unique places to live and close to my family so I wouldn’t want to move but there are many more places to explore that could sway me

A: Sunset

Q: What’s your favorite color?

A: Teal or slate colour

Q: Favorite TV show?

A: No cable, stream lots of sports esp

Q: If you could be any animal what would it be?

A: Fox

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: North Van

Q: What is your Hogwarts house?

A: Gryffindor

Q: What are you most looking forward to with M2M?

A: Looking forward to meeting new athletes and helping everyone have a positive, fun journey in the sport

A: Sweet

Q: Would you rather travel to the past or to the future?

A: Travel to the past, I enjoy researching ancestry and learning about family history

A: Yay!

A: Morning cup of Tetley, no coffee

A: Earplugs (and a mask)

Q: What got you into running?

A: I’ve always loved how no training session or race is the same and the individual reflection of your journey to reach goals is invaluable life experience.

A: Taper workouts in the summer when intensity is high but the reps are short and the track is
