The pandemic is a trying time for many of us and can be a real source of stress and anxiety. In our latest post, Coach Matthew makes the case for why running and personal coaching can help reduce some of the weight the pandemic has created and can contribute to a source of positive energy.

This pandemic has put a real damper on most things running, there are no real races, it’s tricky to get your whole run crew together for your weekly runs, and with all this time being forced to stay inside, your motivation is at an all-time low. Well, it is officially time to flip the script!  Mile2Marathon offers some great personal coaching options, and if you have been wondering if these were right for you, read on, because below I will outline some of the key benefits of getting a personal coach during a pandemic!

We are all aware of the physical benefits that come from running, the one benefit that I really want to emphasize is the benefit to your mental health that running can provide.  A recent study found that during the pandemic, the average person is spending 33% more time in front of a screen.  If you read that statistic and cringed, then you are reading the right article.  By getting your own personal training plan, you will have a scheduled break from your kitchen table/ at-home office, and it can provide you with the nudge you need to get outside, breathe some fresh air, and get moving.  All things that we know deep down will make our day exponentially better.

Expanding on this point, M2M personal coaches are all in this with you.  Since all of our coaches are high-level runners, we have either been where you are or know how to work with you to learn how to keep you driven.  This extra sense of motivation that comes from having someone fully in your corner is a huge part of keeping the momentum going so that you can crush your next goal.  With that being said, we are not all business.  We know that life happens, and it can be tough right now.  This is a huge benefit of the M2M training plans.  They are personal and adaptable.  We know that running can help make a day better, but we also know that there are some days where running just isn’t possible.  Instead of feeling guilty about having to miss a run, the response you are most likely to get is along the lines of “let’s rework this week to make it work for you”.

Working for you is what we do, and even though there are not any *real* races on the horizon, that does not mean that you do not have goals.  Whether it is a virtual race, a time trial, or even just a personal best on that one loop you do around your neighborhood,  with these personal plans, we not only help you define your goals but, we work with you to get you to the start line, happy, healthy, motivated, and fit.

Things are weird right now but running can be a constant and a source of positive energy during this trying time. Your office might be your living room table at the moment but, if you want it, you can use this as an opportunity to get in the best shape of your life and enjoy some screen-free time taking in the great outdoors.
