My Coaching Philosophy

To meet athletes where they’re at and help them reach their potential. Great coaching means understanding the whole athlete — their life, stress, and goals — and shaping training around that. I’ve been fortunate to have coaches who shared these values, and I hope to do the same.

I believe coaching is about building trust first. When an athlete feels seen and supported as a person, they’re able to train more confidently and consistently. Everyone has a different path, and I want to help each athlete I coach find what works best for them individually.
I also believe that progress comes from patience and consistency, not shortcuts. Small, intentional steps add up over time, and my goal is to help athletes stay engaged, healthy, and motivated through the ups and downs of training.

My ultimate goal is for athletes to feel improvement that goes beyond times and workouts, and shows up in their confidence, mindset, and connection to the sport and themselves!

Interview

  • Favourite race type and why?

The marathon and half marathon! I love grinding on the roads and the sense of community you feel during those races. I also really enjoy high volume training and tempo workouts!

  • Favourite running podcast, website, book, videos, or blog?

I’m very biased, but the CITIUS MAG Podcast! As for books, Ryan Hall’s “Run The Mile You’re In” is one of my favorites.

  • Favourite quote?

Don’t measure success by today’s harvest; measure success by the seeds you plant today.

  • Favourite sporting moment? (that you experienced)

Being in the stadium near the finish line for all the distance races at the World Championships in Tokyo last September!

  • Most memorable coaching moment?

Last spring and summer, I had the opportunity to coach an 800m runner and support her through a transition to the University of Colorado, where she now trains under my former college coach. Less than a year later, she lowered her personal best to 2:00 and qualified for the World Athletics Indoor Championships!
