About Theo
Theo walked on the UBC Track and Cross-Country team in his second year of university. Before that he ran for fun, to train for other sports, and the social connections. After university Theo trained with the BC Endurance Project; competing at national championships, international competitions and twice representing Canada in cross-country. As a high school teacher for almost ten years, he has introduced many athletes to the sport, helping them find joy and fitness in athletics, all the while supporting their competitive aspirations.

My Coaching Philosophy
I approach training from a holistic perspective that considers the athlete’s history, goals and everything else on their plate before developing a program. Success in running certainly comes from constant diligent practice, but more importantly success comes from finding joy in it.
Running and chatting with friends, racing your rival, or a solitary jaunt through the forest are the experiences which provide meaning to training and competing. As an athlete and coach, I have always juggled many different commitments -- from academics, full time work, and family -- while striving to compete with the best. Due to this experience, I have a strong interest in helping others find enjoyment and success in running while balancing all of the other meaningful commitments and responsibilities that make for a full life. Whether an athlete is just developing a running practice or wants to compete at an elite level, I am here to support their goals.
